Elizabeth Friedman (she/her), Pastor
I have been at Lord of Light since the summer of 2017, about a year after my family and I moved back to the US after 5 years in the UK. I am passionate about social justice and sharing the love that is an unearned gift of God's grace.
Lord of Light is a special place for me; I did my undergraduate studies here at UM in violin performance (2002) and I was a student leader during my time here. After leaving Ann Arbor, I completed a Master's degree in music at Rice in Houston and started an after-school program in a Nicaraguan community in Costa Rica before heading to seminary in Chicago. I served my internship at Trinity Lutheran Church of Manhattan with Rev. Heidi Neumark.
I'm a Suzuki teacher (that's what I did while we were in the UK) and I still teach violin a little bit, but now mostly only to our seven-year-old. My husband, Matt, is the director of the paleontology museum at U of M, and we have two young, energetic boys, a high-fiving tuxedo cat named Rosie, and a sociable tabby named Coco.
