I'm New Here

Your whole self is welcome here. Lord of Light is a progressive, intergenerational congregation. Our community has been open and affirming since 1987, and is a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA . Come see for yourself!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lord of Light worship like?

Our Service follows the liturgical tradition, with fresh twists. We mix styles of music, and our message is tailored to students and grown-ups. A Free Supper follows directly after church (except from mid-June to mid-August and during the 2-week Winter Break).

What should I wear?

Come as you are in whatever makes you feel comfortable! We are a casual congregation, so you will see everything from jeans and t-shirts to khakis. Be yourself.

Can I take Communion?

Yes! At Lord of Light, we believe Communion is God's gift for the people. We practice open communion, which means all are welcome at the Lord’s table. Jesus made no restrictions, and neither do we.

Accessibility

Lord of Light strives to welcome all of God's people. We continue to improve accessibility for our space and events. We offer:

  • Disability parking spots and a curb cut directly in front of our building

  • Sound amplification during services

  • Gluten-free communion bread and a designated gluten-free chalice

  • Vegan and gluten-free options at every Sunday supper

Please note that accessing the sanctuary, kitchen and dining hall in our current building requires navigating stairs. Additionally, our restrooms are not yet equipped with wheelchair-accessible stalls. We apologize for these inconveniences.

We want to make our space and events accessible to you. For questions and accommodation requests, contact Pastor Elizabeth via email (pastorelizabeth dot lcm at gmail dot com).
